Houjicha is a roasted Japanese green tea with a soothing and earthy profile. Roasting turns the green tea leaves to a reddish-brown color, removes bitterness, and imparts the tea's signature toasty aroma.
Our houjicha is made from first flush tea leaves grown in an organic tea farm community within the Tenryu District known as organic valley. It's rich in antioxidants and l-theanine. Presenting a medium-roast profile, houjicha offers a slightly less caffeinated experience than matcha. Enjoy hot or iced with your milk of choice.

How to Prepare
Houjicha preparation is like matcha but easier because you don't need to sift the powder—scoop, whisk, pour, and you're done!
PREP: Pour 2oz. of 180˚ water into a cup or bowl. Scoop 1 tsp. of houjicha over the hot water.
WHISK: Use a bamboo whisk to briskly whisk houjicha in a Z-like pattern until a light foamy layer has formed at the top—exactly as you would with matcha.
SERVE:Hot: Pour your houjicha shot into a cup. Add another 8-10oz. of hot water for tea or steamed milk for a latte.Iced: Add houjicha shot to 8-10oz. of milk or water. Top with ice.
