1940s Royal Worcester Vintage Egg Coddler

Product Description

Vintage Royal Worcester Egg Coddler in the Lavinia Pattern in its original box, from circa the 1940s. The Lavinia pattern is a detailed transferware of soft green leaves and blackberries designed by Harry Davis, was made from 1940 to 1986. These are early examples and the standard size for single eggs, standing at 3.5 tall each. The chrome metal lid is screwed on. Royal Worcester is said to have invented the coddled egg in the late 19th century. Directions on how to make coddled eggs are printed on the inside top cover of the box. Coat with butter, add eggs, screw on the lid, and boil for 10 minutes! Sounds yummy.
